If you have not seen the fantastic presentation on social media (think “Right Here, Right Now!”), then do yourself a favour and watch it. It's an exceptional reflection of the social media movement, and how it is literally taking over the world. If you are not already onboard, you'd better have a sturdy pair of flippers and a snorkel…because you are heading into murky waters.
Go and make yourself a cup of coffee, sit back and watch this!
Web 2.0 is about two-way (three-way, four-way, five-way – and so it goes on) communication. Are you talking to your audience or at them? Kudos to you if it's the former, if it's the latter, well then you probably wouldn't be reading this anyway, so clearly we're talking to someone who isn't here. What? Who said that? The days of sending out your über glossy marketing material and then settling down with a good book while you wait for the business to pour in are long gone. Seriously, we mean long gone (like 1985). You need to get people talking to their friends and peers about you.
How?
CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT…oh yes, and….. CONTENT!
You must have something of value that will grab their attention and get them to hit the click here | forward | play button. Be it funny, poignant, useful, interesting or very interesting, it needs to rise valiantly above the clutter and fluff and make a bold statement.
Social media platforms include the likes of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and of course the infamous Blog. If you find these mediums a little intimidating, give us a shout. We'll happily show you how much fun these are to use once you know the basics.
Or you could let us do it for you….
And if you are engaging in this social space, are you up to speed on what is being said about you? This is where O.R.M minces its way in. Online Reputation Management, or monitoring the ‘Word of Mouse’, is the reputation online policing forum. It is the process of tracking all of those online discussions about your brand, rating them either positive or negative, and deciding whether you need to get involved, or remain subtly silent. We have an excellent partner (Brandseye) with whom we work to do all of this for you.
If you are curious to hear what your audience is saying, raise your hand now.
